Miami Dolphins vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Prediction for NFL Preseason Week 3

The NFL season is quickly approaching, and fans cannot wait. We do, however, still have some preseason action to finish up as the Dolphins play their final preseason game at Jacksonville on Saturday. This is a very tough matchup to make our Dolphins vs. Jaguars prediction due to personnel and the random nature of the NFL preseason. Our experts still think we can find a betting edge, though, and the Dolphins are given a 6.5-point cushion, despite the fact that they just won their last preseason game 28-3.

The Jaguars have been able to put up a lot of points in their first two games, despite splitting reps between different quarterbacks. The Dolphins have had success on both sides of the ball too, and they’ll want to look sharp on Saturday in their final preseason game in an important year with high playoff hopes. The AFC East division is the toughest in football, and the Dolphins will look to work out any kinks in their system in this game. It feels as though the Jaguars already know what they have, and may rest most of their starters in this final preseason contest.

Now, let’s dive into some of our key players to look out for on Saturday. Miami most likely won’t give Tua any reps in this game, which isn’t the end of the world considering the fact Skylar Thompson has been more than serviceable for the Dolphins. Last game, Tua only attempted seven passes, as Thomspon attempted 22 passes and completed 15 of them for 157 yards and three touchdowns. It was obviously a very impressive showing for Thompson, who has some regular-season experience and has proven to be a solid backup option.

As far as rushing goes, Miami has Salvon Ahmad coming off a 99-yard game where he burst out for a 65-yard run. His elusiveness surprised fans, and he should factor in again on Saturday. When it comes to receiving, the Dolphins spread the ball out to plenty of options. Braxton Berrios led the team in yards last game and caught a touchdown pass. He may be limited in this one, but we still expect to see him getting reps. With Thompson at the helm, we predict Miami will have another offensive explosion in this game.

Now, when we look at this Jags team, we have to address some of their weapons as well. At QB, the Jags have been splitting reps between C.J. Beathard and Nathan Rourke. Beathard took more snaps last game and had a decent performance going 12/20 passing 138 yards and a touchdown. When it comes to the Jacksonville rushing attack, we have to watch out for Tank Bigsby, who is quite literally a Tank. He rushed for 70 yards last game and will get plenty of carries again in this one. In the receiving department, the Jags were led by Elijah Cooks and Tim Jones against the Lions, and we expect to see them produce again against Miami.

Lastly, these defenses are both coming off impressive games with Miami only allowing three points, and Jacksonville only allowing seven. We expect this to be a low-scoring affair, which makes us lean even heavier on our Dolphins vs. Jaguars prediction of Dolphins +6.5.

Dolphins vs. Jaguars Picks & NFL Best Bets for Saturday Featuring Dolphins +6.5

As stated above, our experts are riding with Miami +6.5 for our Dolphins vs. Jaguars prediction. 6.5 points feels like a ton in this spot, especially considering the fact that it’s preseason action and it's very unpredictable. Also, with Miami coming off a blowout win, it’s surprising that they’d be such heavy underdogs, even though Jacksonville has played well so far. Although Dolphins +6.5 (-105 at FanDuel) is our official Dolphins vs. Jaguars prediction, we also would recommend taking a stab at their money line, which is currently (+200). This feels like great value on a solid team in what feels like a fairly even matchup.

Dolphins vs. Jaguars Injury Reports Heading Into This Weekend

For Miami, Jaylen Waddle has been dealing with an abdomen issue. We won’t see him in the game Saturday, but the Dolphins are very optimistic that he’ll play in Week 1. For Jacksonville, offensive tackles Cooper Hodges and Josh Wells are both questionable and will likely rest up for the regular reason. Other than that, both teams are relatively healthy and injuries won’t play a factor in our Dolphins vs. Jaguars prediction.
